Тэдди уже за тридцать, и он довольно долго шёл к успеху: выкладывал каверы на ютуб, записывал не особо популярные мини-альбомы, и даже его самый большой хит Lose Control выстрелил далеко не сразу. Песня вышла летом 2023-го, но только полгода спустя пробралась в мировые чарты и сделала Тэдди одной из главных звёзд прошлого года. Он явно не желает упускать этот статус и год начал со второго студийника: I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy pt. 2.
По названию понятно, что вторая часть должна быть всё в той же стилистике, что и первая. Тэдди всё ещё эксплуатирует свои травмы, переживания и ночные кошмары, но при этом ему удаётся не выглядеть нытиком. Может, дело в его тембре и внешнем виде? Или в его текстах.
Он снова предстаёт, как мужчина, который в лучших традициях мужественных альфачей пытается отпустить свою женщину (или даже прогнать после её утомительного мозгоделания). Он страдает, драматично призывает её надеть чёрное платье на свои похороны, а фраза «выйди в дверь» повторяется слишком часто (а ведь она уже была на хите The Door). Но это топтание на одной теме компенсируется разнообразием музыкальных направлений.
Как и в на прошлой пластинке, здесь хватает отсылок к возрождённому в нулевых R&B и классическому мотауну, но между делом Тэдди вкидывает хаус-пианино на Funeral, которая вайбом подозрительно похожа на Too Close Алекса Клэра, или замешивает фанк и трэп на She Got It. Your Kind of Crazy немного джазовая, а мягкая Northern Lights вполне могла бы вписаться в альбомы Coldplay.
Радует и что дуэты здесь не с самыми очевидными артистами. Ранее Тэдди уже пел с Меган Трейнор, и теперь вполне мог бы позволить позвать любую звезду для накрутки стримов, но на этот раз не стал лезть в попсу, а вместо этого пригласил Givēon и Muni Long. Имена не последние, но совсем в другой нише.
Без радио-хитов альбом тоже не остался. Hammer to the Heart мы уже слышали прошлым летом на переходной части альбома 1.5. Не менее театральным получился первый трек Not Your Man, который артист уже тестировал на живых выступлениях. Bad Dreams уже не первый месяц очень комфортно себя чувствует в чартах, и неожиданный (и внезапно очень подходящий Тэдди) вайб софт-рока он ещё раз изучает на Guilty.

Самое главное, что эта вторая часть вышла не просто ради наживы на фанатах. Она добавляет в дискографию артиста несколько взрывных поп-хитов и показывает его многогранность. Я всё же надеюсь, что третьей части не будет, потому что столько страдать по женщинам и фотографироваться с алкоголем вредно для здоровья. С другой стороны, Адель или Тейлор Свифт каждую альбом пишут о бывших, но их никто к психологу не отправляет. Ставлю 4/5.

Teddy is now over thirty and his road to success has been a long one: he uploaded covers on YouTube, released a few EPs, and even his biggest hit, «Lose Control,» didn’t take off right away. The song was released in the summer of 2023, but it took another six months before it broke into the global charts and made Teddy one of the main stars of last year. He clearly does not want to lose this status and started the year with his second studio album: «I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy pt. 2.»
The title suggests that the second part will follow the same style as the first. Teddy still exploits his traumas, experiences, and nightmares, but he manages not to come off as whiny. Maybe it’s due to his tone and appearance? Or perhaps it’s his lyrics.
He again presents himself as a man who, in the best traditions of tough alphas, tries to let go of his woman (or even drive her away after her tedious mind games). He suffers, dramatically urging her to wear a black dress to his funeral, and asks to get out the door too often (especially since it was already the main idea of the hit «The Door»). However, this thematic repetition is balanced by a variety of musical directions.
As with the previous record, this one includes nods to the revived 2000s R&B and classic Motown, but in between, Teddy throws in house piano on «Funeral,» which suspiciously vibes like Alex Clare’s «Too Close,» or mixes funk and trap on «She Got It.» «Your Kind of Crazy» is somewhat jazzy, while the soft «Northern Lights» could easily fit into a Coldplay album.
It’s also pleasing that the duets here are not with the most obvious artists. Teddy has previously sung with Meghan Trainor, and now he could easily have invited any star to boost streams, but this time he did not go for the pop route, instead inviting Givēon and Muni Long. These names are prominent but in a different niche.
The album did not lack radio hits either. «Hammer to the Heart» we already heard last summer in the transitional part of the album 1.5. The first track, «Not Your Man,» which the artist had already tested in live performances, turned out to be no less theatrical. «Bad Dreams» has been comfortably in the charts for several months, and Teddy revisits its unexpectedly fitting soft rock vibe on «Guilty.»
Most importantly, this second part was not released just to profit off fans. It adds several explosive pop hits to the artist’s discography and showcases his versatility. I still hope there won’t be a third part, because suffering so much over women and posing with alcohol for covers is unhealthy. On the other hand, Adele or Taylor Swift write about their exes in every album, yet no one sends them to a psychologist. I rate it 4/5.
