Несколько недель назад дуэт Туве Лу и SG Lewis снова встретился на новом треке Нелли Фуртадо, но теперь ребята уже забыли про Нелли и совсем затмили её своим новым жарким мини-альбомом HEAT.
Это 15 минут горячей танцевальной музыки – более агрессивной, чем прошлый проект певицы Dirt Femme c парой треков от SG Lewis. На этот раз ребята явно вдохновлялись не sci-fi семидесятых и обошлись без ретро-синтов. Новые треки больше напоминают Above & Beyond, Ferry Corsten и кто там ещё был популярен на границе веков?
Начинается релиз с заглавного трека и с первых же секунд пульсация пианино приглашает на танцпол. Ты не выдержишь зноя, – заявляет Туве. И здесь биты оказываются более важными, чем мелодия или вокал, но уже на втором треке нам предлагают более лёгкий дэнс-поп номер в стиле Кайли. Учитывая, что продюсер очень хотел с ней поработать, задаюсь вопросом, не предназначались ли все эти треки для её альбома Tension? Но это пока останется загадкой, а Let me go OH OH тем временем предлагает нам гипнотический бит и аккуратный вокал с придыханием Туве на куплетах.
Busy Girl сразу же отправляет меня в середину нулевых к главному хиту Bodyrox & Luciana (не знаю вообще, были ли у них другие треки, но Yeah Yeah крутили частенько по Bridge TV). Снова агрессивная подача, громкий бит, повторяющиеся примитивные строчки – всё это немного напоминает последние релизы Charli XCX. И этот трек впечатлил меня меньше всего, но к счастью, он короче всех, а завершает альбом Desire с более приятной мне эстетикой транса ранних нулевых с мечтательным пианино и даже с вкраплениями акустической гитары, которая всегда спасает танцевальные треки.

Надеюсь, что за этим мини-альбомом последует ещё пара совместных EP, потому что артисты явно очень неплохо сработались, ну и потому что четырёх песен слишком уж мало. Ставлю 4/5.

A few weeks ago, the duo of Tove Lo and SG Lewis reunited on a new track by Nelly Furtado. However, they seem to have moved on from Nelly and outshone her with their new sizzling mini-album, «HEAT.»
This is 15 minutes of hot dance music—more aggressive than Tove Lo’s previous project, «Dirt Femme,» which included a couple of tracks by SG Lewis. This time, they were clearly inspired not by ’70s sci-fi and avoided retro synths. The new tracks are more reminiscent of Above & Beyond, Ferry Corsten, and other artists who were popular at the turn of the century.
The release kicks off with the title track, and from the very first seconds, the pulsing piano invites you to the dance floor. «You can’t handle the heat,» declares Tove. Here, the beats are more important than the melody or vocals. However, the second track offers us a lighter dance-pop number in the style of Kylie. Considering that the producer was eager to work with her, I wonder if all these tracks were intended for her album «Tension?» But that remains a mystery for now, and «Let me go OH OH» meanwhile offers us a hypnotic beat and Tove’s breathy vocals on the verses.
«Busy Girl» immediately sends me back to the mid-2000s to the hit by Bodyrox & Luciana (I don’t know if they had any other tracks, but «Yeah Yeah» was often played on Bridge TV in Russia). Once again, we have an aggressive delivery, loud beats, and primitive lyrics—all of which remind me a bit of Charli XCX’s recent releases. This track impressed me the least, but fortunately, it’s the shortest, and the album concludes with «Desire,» which has a more pleasant early-2000s trance aesthetic, with dreamy piano and even touches of acoustic guitar, which always enhances dance tracks.
I hope this mini-album will be followed by a couple more joint EPs because the artists clearly work very well together, and four songs are just too few. I give it a 4/5.
